Familiar-improving spells

Off the top of my head, I can think of three: Augment Familiar, Enhance Familiar, Fortify Familiar (all of which are listed in the Spell Compendium). Are there any other spells for the combat familiar that I'm missing?

Well, they aren't specifically for familiars, but any spell that you can use to 'buff' a character (e.g., haste) should also be applicable to familiars. Technically, you could pump that sucker right up and have it do your fighting for you, right?

THREAD NECROMANCY!

All those spells are 1hr/level except Augment Familiar. Are there other good spells with long durations to keep your familiar pumped through a full dungeon that don't require concentration?

All of these are good ideas, but I'd take it a step further and use these spells and use permanency on them. My understanding is that Permanency's that you perform on yourself or your familiar/animal companion cannot be dispelled, just make sure you use share spell for Permanency when you are making spells that affect your familiar permanent and make sure that you use Permanency yourself to make sure that they can't be dispelled by some random spellcaster.

Permanency's that you cast on other people or on locations are subject to possibly being dispelled at some point.

In my campaign, we had a high-level wizard PC cast polymorph any object on his Small fire elemental familiar, transforming her into a Large fire elemental familiar. We ruled that the change in form was so minimal that the effect was permanent, and we also ruled that a familiar's increased Intelligence is an inherent part of being a familiar (so her Intelligence wasn't "reset" to that of an average Large fire elemental).

End result: he now has a Large fire elemental familiar who wades into battle to protect her master.
