[QUOTE="Tuerny, post: 615860, member: 674"] Hello everyone. Could you critique this for balance compared to the other d20 Modern spellcasting classes? For those who are interested from the Low Fantasy Thread, these are the spellcasting advanced classes I am planning on producing: Connection-based: Air Magi, Earth Magi, Fire Magi, and Water Magi: Spell-casters who draw upon the elements to fuel their magical power. Dream Weaver: Spell-casters with a special connection to the realm of dreams, allowing them to predict the future, travel great distances, and communicate with others. Foci-based: Binder: Spell-casters who gain their magical power by binding extra-planar beings to their “Mansion of Bone” Divinate: Spell-casters who declare allegiance to a deity, and are thus channeled energy to power their magic Spiritualist: Spell-casters who gather spirits of the natural world into their “Mansion of Bone”, their spiritual nexus and use them to power their magic. Heritage-based: Sorcerer: Beings of indeterminate heritage who have gained magical power due to their ancestry. Hex-Mage: Birthed on a confluence of ley lines or other place of magical power, hex-mages can manipulate them to influence the magic found in every being. And these are the prestige classes: Godling: Powerful spell-casters who have entrapped a spirit lord or demigod into their “Mansion of Bone.” Requirements: Must be able to cast 5th level spells, have a “Mansion of Bone,” and trap an outsider of elemental of minimum 15 HD in it. Elemental: Magi who reach beyond the power gained by merely tapping the elements to try to become one. Requirments: [Elemental] Soul (may be chosen from Earth, Air, Water, Fire, or Dream) Mystic: Spellcaster who has mastered their own magical essence, allowing them to ascend to the next level of being. Earth Magi Prerequisites: Feat: Magical Talent (any earth spell) Skills: Concentration +6, Craft (smithing) +6 Race: Dwarf, Earth Genasi or Earthbond feat Special: May not have any levels as an Air Magi. Action Points: 6+ ½ level Class Skills: Concentration, Craft (Architecture, Smithing), Dispel Magic, Divination, Intimidate, Intuit Direction, Knowledge (Arcane Lore, Current Events, Earth and Life Sciences, History, Physical Sciences), Profession, Read/Write Language, Research, Speak Language, Scry, Spellcraft Hit Dice: d6 Level BAB Fort Ref Will Special Caster Lvl Defense Rep. 1 +0 +1 +0 +2 Spellcasting +1 +1 +2 2 +1 +2 +0 +3 Strength of the Earth (Spell Focus) +2 +1 +2 3 +1 +2 +1 +3 Bonus Feat +3 +2 +2 4 +2 +2 +1 +4 Stone Body 1 +4 +2 +3 5 +2 +3 +1 +4 Strength of the Earth (Empower Spell) +5 +3 +3 6 +3 +3 +2 +5 Bonus Feat +6 +3 +3 7 +3 +4 +2 +5 Stone Body 2 +7 +4 +4 8 +4 +4 +2 +6 Strength of the Earth (Maximize Spell) +8 +4 +4 9 +4 +4 +3 +6 Bonus Feat +9 +5 +4 10 +5 +5 +3 +7 Stone Soul +10 +5 +5 Spellcasting: The Earth Magi can cast spells as a spellcaster from the Elements of Magic. Every time he gains a level he is considered to be able to cast spells as if he was one level higher according to said table. The Earth Magi has access to the following spell lists: Element spells may be chosen from Crystal, Earth, Lava, Metal, and Mud. Element+ spells may be chosen from the Element spells plus Air, Ice, Lightning, Sonic, and Void Abjure [Element+], Animate Object, Banish [Element+], Bind [Element], Create [Element] Object, Evoke [Element], Evoke Area [Element], Infuse Creature with [Element], Infuse Object with [Element], Paralysis and Petrifaction, Polymorph [Element], Summon [Element], and Wall of [Element]. Bonus Feats: As the Earth Magi goes up in level his training allows him to gain bonus feats. At 3rd, 6th, and 9th level choose one from Alertness, Brew Potion, Builder, Craft Arms and Armor, Craft Wondrous Item, Educated, Empower Spell, Endurance, Enlarge Spell, Extend Spell, Focused, Forge Ring, Great Fortitude, Heighten Spell, Iron Will, Maximize Spell, Quicken Spell, Renown, Silent Spell, Spell Focus*, Still Spell, Studious, Toughness * See Altered Feats. Strength of the Earth: The Earth Magi learns how to master the strength and resilience found in the magic of the earth, tapping it to overwhelm the defenses of those who try to resist its inevitability. At 2nd level this translates into Spell Focus (Earth) as a bonus feat. At 5th level the Earth Magi’s mastery of earth magic granting them Heighten Spell as a bonus feat. At 8th level they gain Empower Spell as a bonus feat. Stone Body: As the Earth Magi’s power grows, so does their intimate connection with the earth. At 4th level this translates into a +1 natural bonus to armor class and immunity to low-intensity earth side effects. At 7th level this bonus increases to a +2 natural bonus to armor class and immunity to medium-intensity earth side-effects. Stone Soul: When the Earth Magi achieves 10th level they have gained a near-perfect union with the power of earth. This grants them immunity to extreme intensity elemental earth side effects and a +2 bonus inherent bonus to strength. [/QUOTE]
