Fast Spell Recovery

Hey if anyone read the old DMG 1st edition, you know what I speak about.

it's about lowering the amount of time you need to rest to regain your spells.

The system goes something like this.

rest a 1/2 hour and you replenish your supply of 0 level spells.

an hour and you get back all your 1st level spells.
2 hours 2nd level and so on til
9 hours for all spells up to 9th level.

Yeah so a 5th level wizard would only need 3 hours of rest to get back all his fire power. Comments? I used to use this in 2e and things worked out ok.

This would just be a base of the system.

Another way to do things would be (and I'm working on it) a mana slot system (not points)

I'll be back with the system later on.

Interesting read

Rasyr- I read your system. Yeah, it's sort of the same thing.

I've got the wizards, bards, and sorcerers ready to post. But I'll do that tommorow. The basic premise will be you regain x/slots per hour.

Turns out wizards regain x slots per hour = to thier wizard leve, the math is probablly just a coincidence.

So a 5th level wizard can rest one hour and get 5 slots worth of spells back, this may be 2 nd level slots, and on 1st, or a 3rd and a 2nd.

The system works like this. You rest say 4 hours, gain back hr rest x5 slots total= 20 slots, now you choose how to divide it.

It's really really simple. Charts will be put up soon, here or linked.

And the system keep with my proposed 1e feel recovery.

As a suggestion, you might want to add their Spell stat to the process (at the end, I would think).

This would make it so that more powerful mages (i.e. stat-wise) would regain spells faster...

I don't want to add the stats, those already have their place in providing higher level access, and more spell potential (per day)

tables might get posted a bit late. But soon. Probablly work up a quick website with SRD and OGL stuff.
