Favore weapon in Clanggedin faith

Mjollnir

First Post
I looked into Faiths&Pantheons and got quite surprised to see that the dwarven deity Clanggedin Silverbeard favored weapon is the battleaxe. Shouldn't it be the waraxe? Let's take a moment to think about it: Clanggedin Silverbeard is the dwarven deity of war, the waraxe is a dwarven weapon and it's more harmful than the battleaxe, so...
You , guys from 3.5 ed., consider this, at least.
Does anyone agree with this argument out there?

Yes. Quite into tradition, your average lawn orn.... dwarf. And the Moradinsamman are the essence of dwarfishness.

Also, the amount of damage dealt should not be the main concern of a god choosing his weapon.

Until 3.5, it's stated that Dwarves favour the battleaxe.

It's like how your average soldier is armed with a longsword - bastard sword might be a better weapon, but it's not as common.

The dwarven waraxe is the weapon of a specialist. Clangeddin represents Olaf Everydwarf.

Wasn't that "Agi Hammerthief"? :D

Because in 2nd edition waraxes didn't exist...

No reason for him to change his favored weapon, only because them modern dwarves made a bastard sword with an axe blade....

Funnily enough, your average NPC fighter (from the DMG tables) uses the bastard sword, although it is to be determined whether he is your average soldier.

According to the PHB, it's probably "Oskar Holderhek" :)

The average soldier is a Warrior - doesn't have as many feats to throw around :)

It is not a question of editions. In 2nd ed. waraxes didn't exist, but we must suppose they were already made by dwarves. Conclusion: waraxes are not a modern weapon in dwarven warcraft. If Clangeddin (remember: dwarven deity of war) favored a one handed axe in second edition (I'd rather say TWO twin handed axes) as the battleaxe, shouldn't it be moved to a more dwarven-oriented tool of war like the waraxe in 3rd ed.? Just think about it for one moment: imagine Clanggeddin deciding between a cool weapon like the battleaxe and another one more linked to dwarven warfare, dwarven design and dwarven style of fighting that can slash to pieces any cursed goblinoid fool enough to stand before Him (in a dwarven way of thinkink :D) like the waraxe. This is my argument. Sorry, folks if it wasn't so developed before...
