Favored enemy: Arcanist?

I could have sworn I read about an alternative class feature for the Ranger that allowed him to take arcanists (including warlocks) as a favored enemy. But now I can't find it.

Anyone know where something like this can be found? Or am I just dreaming it?

Dunno.

I recall that in FR you can select specific organisations, cults, and similar groups as your favoured enemy, however. Perhaps that's what you were thinking of? I rather like it myself, especially for humanocentric or historical-type campaigns.

It is not your imagination; I know that I have read this in a WOTC book. Unfortunately, I cannot remember where, either.
