Its the standard +1 luck bonus to any skill roll when doing something in service of good 1/day.

Meh i would, at minimum house rule it to a +1 luck bonus to all skills when doing something in service of good.

Especially in reference to a feat as mind-bogglingly terrible as Favoured of the Companions.

glass.

Definitely! Those exalted feats as prerequisites did a great job of making the BoED PrCs unappealing.

Ah, it's one of those sucktacular feats they put in as a pre-requisite for super powers. Well, if you think it's terrible, just do what the Book of Exalted Deeds does! Balance mechanics with roleplaying! :D

IIRC the saint template is the only thing that is balanced for RP stuff, instead of actual balance.

If we accept that the saint template means that the BOED balances things with roleplaying requirements instead of actual balance, then the PHB must be useless, since it contains useless feats like toughness.

Ah, but exalted feats and prestige classes are also balanced by roleplaying (much like the Paladin). Granted they aren't anywhere close to the Saint template, and most of them are somewhat useable (without the roleplay "balance"). Others, not so much (Touch of Golden Ice, I'm looking at you).

The book could have been great, but wound up being only slightly more than useless to me.

Neat idea, poor execution. Much like the book of Vile Darkness (which I've actually gotten slightly more use out of).
