OK i'm running an online campaign for some friends, and am trying to flesh out some of the important NPCs ahead of time, so that they don't suddenly realise "oh theres a world famous person named this. uh, we knew this!" probably not to that scale but if there is an npc that will become important later it would be nice to have them introduced earlier. Important backdrop info: the evil NPC orginiation is trying to ressurect a powerful man who was transformed into an uncontrollable monster (terrasque) by an amber dragon (there is only 1 amber, saphire, etc dragon in this campaign) - but they don't know the amber dragon did it - and they are failing. they are doing this because the godess of lies is manipulating them (she does stuff like that) Now what i'm trying to do is set up both good, neutral, and bbeg npcs here, just a general idea of who they are... So far i have: Caeryl: Caeryl is a nymph who they rescued from Vargosh's keep (below). I'm not sure how long she is going to stay with the party (i put her in at first as they had no cleric, and i was on the nymph page...i nerfed her a bit and stuck her in the cell next to them :D) She will probably be an important NPC as one of the PCs seems to have taken a liking to her. Gobby: Gobby is a goblin with a speech problem. HE LIKES TO TALK REALLY REALLY LOUD SOMETIMES. PLUS HIS COMMONS ARE NOT THE GOOD TALK. He's actually pretty easy to understand in goblin language, but still has the volume problem. He has had concentrated troll's blood transfused into him and regenerates very quickly. He probably won't stay with the party after this session - his purpose was to introduce the party to his father,, The Goblin King: the Goblin King is the mayor of Goblintown. Goblintown is a busy trade city, but it wasn't always. Streets are lined with buildings of varying heights, double doors, etc. Its an architechture nightmare! But the mayor is an incredibly intelligent goblin sorcer. He has an int of like 18, and is level 7 or 8, and has almost *all* of his skill points in knowledge ranks, and has loremaster PRC. He is *the* knowhow of this island (about the size of a small state). He has a striking similarity to Yoda... :P The Deeprock Dwarven Dungeon Delvers (kinda stolen from another thread here :P) These 5 dwarves (Mix of fighters, Fighter/rogues, and clerics) are somewhat renoun group of explorers, specialising in mapping out natural caverns and uncovering ancient ruins. They will sometimes work with PCs, sometimes be competition, etc. Random features: they all dress the same and have a big flash entrance whenever they arrive at a new place or meet an 'important' person Sub-BBEG (the one who is speaking to the goddess of lies - is basically in charge of lesser bbegs) Vargosh He is a human cleric to the goddess of lies, who with his brother live in a keep. Inside this keep is a virtual shop of horrors. They have learned ways of actually altering the bodies of creatures - transfusing blood of trolls into other creatures to give them natural regeneration, transfering souls from one body to another, etc. Some of the PCs came from this guys lab as test subjects who recently escaped. Minor-BBEGs Kertil Brother to the Sub-BBEG, he is a human wizard. Frash Frash is going to be introduced to the party next session. He works for the brothers above, as it was his duty in life, it is now his duty in death. Frash is the ghost of a human sorcerer. Currently he is investigating the Tomb of the Heroes, but is ordered to retreat at the first sign of humanoids entering, as the brothers don't trust his ability to survive (with good reason...he's dead...) with the information he has learned. I havn't quite decided what else he will be doing, but he is going to leave the instant they spot him this session...oh, and sick his zombie dragon on the party :) dungeon boss! Now, i'm intending to steal somone elses idea and make a "collector" npc - one who seeks out unuique magic items, and will surely often be at odds with the party in that aspect, however possibly with them in hunting an item as well...but i havn't finished him yet Now! What You can do to help me! Basically, tell me about your favorite NPCs, or NPC concepts you never got to see...maybe it will fit in my game! I need more minor BBEGs, and NPCs to make the world unuiqe, but unfortunatly have a limited amount of creativity - I'd love to see what all of you can put together collectivly!
