Well, there you go. What would you pick if you're a 20th-level wizard casting Summon Monster IX? (This can be in the context of your own PC, or what you think you see most as DM, or just whichever seems the coolest or most useful to you.)

Go ahead and add a response telling us why you picked the one you did!

I voted for the Ghaele because summoning an intelligent 14th lv caster ally is pretty good. For pure melee power though Elder Elementals really provide some might for the party. 1d4+1 Bebilith or Elder Xorns could also be a nice use of a 9th lv spell.

Eladrin. Gotta love bringing in an elf like angel with a 4d6+14 greatsword who is a 14th level cleric caster in his own right.

Add a fully equipped 14th level cleric to the party? Sure! Sounds like fun! :)

(Especially since he's got the arcane power too with hold monster, prismatic spray, improved invisibility, and see invisibility as well... :))

I'm surprised more folks haven't picked the Gelugon devil (AC 28, hp 114, DR 20/+2, SR 25, regeneration 5, a bucket of free spells like fly, charm monster, cone of cold, etc. at 13th level), or the Vrock demon, for that matter...
