You could create an entire adventure or campaign out of variations on this.  Such as having one of the PCs being the experimental guineapig.  The party gets her back after being captured but before too long strange things start happening and in trying to find out why the insideous plot comes to light, etc, the usual.And I must say though I voted for Dryads for the hawt factor Myconids are cool too.  Especially in densely forested or tropical areas.</blockquote>
