first three that come to mind.... Bonecrusher (2e/3e): +1 maul. Used by one of the few 2e characters I converted over to 3e when it came out (most attempts at this just didn't feel right). Thavis McDougall was a 5ft tall human barbarian who could easily be mistaken for a dwarf in the right lighting. He wielded his ancestral weapon and layed waste to perhaps hundreds of skeletal undead (counting a Lich or two). Drowbane (2e+): In my old 2e group "drowbane" is used to describe this blade about as often as it is the deadly dark elven swordsman who wielded it. Janus Nasadra had... issues... with his own kind. I played the character roughly 5 yrs, he had that blade for 4 of those. It was a (2e) katana forged of Baatorian Greensteel and enchanted to slay... (what for it!!) D R O W. Shocker, huh? The mere forging of this blade was hook for no fewer than three adventures. I've been meaning to stat out Janus and his blade in 3e... (+5 keen holy drowbane katana... sounds about right. I guess I'd have to dig up the old 2e rules on Baatorian Greensteel though). Elemental Wrath (3e): One of my early 3e DMs (some of you know him as Talath) converted and ran the Return to the Tomb of Horrors back in 01' (?). We started at lvl 18 and I brought in a human Half Celestial Cleric 15 who fancied himself as the Angel of Death. His weapon of choice was this Adamantine (+2 enhancement bonus back then) Great Scimitar with acid, cold, electricity, fire and sonic burst (+2 equiv each). He only critted on a 15+... but he typically dropped whatever it was whenever it happened. Sadly, he lost his face to some fiendish item in the Fortress of Conclusion (one of the last three PCs to survive that long... he died earlier to a trio of vampires... but he got better). Good times. Honorable Mention (edit)~ Razorshard (3e): Animal Companion of a (talenta-style) Halfling Druid. I've played this concept twice now... Original: the clawfoot animal companion of Rin Kresk, talenta halfling "shaman" (druid 5 / beast master 1 w/natural bond). Current: The newer version is the fleshraker (MMIII) animal companion of Pesci Kresk... talenta halfling "shaman" (druid 7 | barbarian 1 / battle dancer 1 / ninja 3 / swordsage 1 / beastmaster 1) In both parties, Razorshard *was/is* the defacto "party tank".
