Actually, I've already done that. My character is a Warmage 2/Wizard 3/Ultimate Magus 1. So far I'm loving this character. I was trying to work with my DM to create a feat that would allow me to cast my Wizard spells in armor. A not too outrageous thought for a feat, since I already have armored casting as a Warmage- especially with the idea of 'class combo' feats already out there mixing different class abilities. Then I got Complete Scoundrel and read the Master Spellthief feat. A combo feat that gave the armored casting schtick AND other stuff too. Of course I realize that a straight port of that feat into Master Warmage would be ridiculously over-powered. As I've said, I'm of the feeling that Master Spellthief by itself is over-powered. I think the feat would probably be ok if you dropped the combined caster level aspect of it (the double Practiced Spellcaster part). Then you'd have a feat that gives something to your Spellthief side and to your arcane casting side. That'd be pretty balanced and inline with the other 'class combo' feats from Complete Adventurer and Scoundrel. However, with even this toned-down version of Master Spellthief as a model, I don't think something a bit more than just armored casting for your other arcane casting class is too out of line for my proposed Master Warmage feat. All 'class combo' feats give something to both classes. Master Warmage would give armored casting (with the same restrictions as a Warmage) for ALL arcane spells you cast- that's something for your non-Warmage casting class. So what benefit (good but not overpowering) to give to the Warmage side? How's this for a proposed feat... [bq]Master Warmage Your arcane studies allow you to optimize different styles of arcane magic Prerequisite: Ability to cast 2nd-level arcane spells, warmage edge. Benefit: Your levels of other arcane spellcaster classes (that is, levels of any class that grants arcane spellcasting other than the warmage) enhance your warmage Advanced Learning. For every three levels you have in other arcane spellcaster classes, you may add a new spell to your warmage spell list. The spell must be a wizard spell and of a level no higher than that of the highest-level spell you know as a warmage. Once a new spell is selected, it is forever added to that warmage’s spell list and can be cast just like any other spell on the warmage’s list. The new spell is not limited to the evocation school as it represents the result of personal study brought about by your broader exposure to arcane magic. In addition, you do not incur a chance of arcane spell failure for arcane spells cast from other classes while wearing light armor or light shields. If you have attained 8th level as a warmage this ability includes medium armor as well. Normal: A warmage’s Armored Mage class ability does not apply to spells gained from a different spellcasting class. (Complete Arcane pg. 12).[/bq] Thoughts... comments...
