Feats for a Sword and Board build

If you have a high Charisma, Goad is a great feat for a tank style warrior. Another guy in my campaign is playing this style of paladin and it has saved my barbarian's life more times than I can count.

A few levels of Crusader would do some really good stuff for you:
1) They have stances that mesh really unbelievably well with knight abilities.
2) There are strikes to increase the damage of the weapon you're wielding in one hand.
3) There are nifty protect-others counters that require a shield.
4) They have good Fort saves, and you can add Charisma to Will saves.

There's more too, but those are the biggies.

In Heroes of battle there is a very nice feat that grants +2 to your shield bonus, IF you have an adjacent ally also wielding a shield. So as long as the groups can use teamwork, it is a fairly solid choice. Also good if you can get a supply of redshirts.

If you want to be more the mounted combat specialist, yeah. :D Sorry, that's not very helpful, I know.

It's just that you mentioned 'Sword and Board' (even in the thread title) and this: "I will rock on horseback AND on foot!". . . so, I'm not so sure that's the best way to get there.

Certainly, 4 levels of Knight and 4 of Fighter would look prety sweet, for going into that PrC. Hella Will and Fort, and nice other stuff, without going totally ballistic with the multiclassing.

I agree, something from the Book of Nine Swords could work well here. Not Swordsage perhaps, but that leaves two. Is that book an option for this campaign / do you like it at all?
