The rules forum thread on skill points for humans with negitive int mods got me thinking. With things like swim, climb and tumble as skills, how much sense does int as the controlling factor for skill points always make? Rather than completely revamping the skills system, I decided to try a couple of feats to represent different kinds of learning.
Kinesthetic Learner
Prereq: 1st level
Benefit: Bonus skill points (including first level) are based on Con rather than Int. All Str modified skills plus Tumble and Balance are always class skills. All Int modified skills plus Speak language, Profession, disable device and pick lock are always cross class skills. The character gains no bonus languages at first level.
Intuitive Learner
Prereq: 1st level
Benefit: Bonus skill points (including first level) are based on Wis rather than Int. Spot, Listen, Sense Motive, Heal and Survival are always class skills. All Int modified skills plus Speak language, disable device and pick lock are always cross class skills. The character gains no bonus languages at first level.
My only concern is if some of the bonus class skils (tumble for kinesthetic and spot and listen for intuitive might be overpowering. Intuitive learner could be seen as more powerful since there are several good skills modified by wis, whereas there's only one con skill, but then except for divine spellcaster con is a more powerful stat overall than wis.
