Feats vs Undead

Sir ThornCrest

First Post
I have a total of 4 players that are now making pc's for this Undead Hunter campaign
apparently I started a fun campaign that is attracting gamers from other groups. Thanks to many of you that answered my /questions posts. I thank you & so do the players...

The book libris mortis (spelling?) according to another post has these two feats Ghost scarred and Vampire hunter and several others, can someone post the basics on these feats. and if you would be so kind to post any other feats you think would go good for a Undead Hunter campaign???
Please and thanks to any help

the 4 new players want to play the following

1) Cleric w/ Saint template 12th level (10+2 Level adjustment)
2) Monk w/ Vow of Poverty 12th level
3) A rogue wizard of somesort I think he said arcane trickster, whats an arcane trickster? Does it suck or is on par with the other pc's as far as "bang for the buck" goes..whats your take-is there a better Rogue/spellcaster combo. 12th level
4) Ranger w/ everything towards undead 12th...any Prestige Class builds to make him insanely focused on killing undead...

Again I thank you for your input

Libris Mortis also has a great undead fighting prestige class for Clerics.

If you're going to run an undead campaign, I recommend you get a copy of the book. It is extremely useful.

he will be over powered or over powering?

Will the Monk suck in your opinion or will he be way tooo strong, build wise?

Very likely, the monk will be overpowered. its just how the vow stacks with monk benefits.

As for the Monk, it depends how generous your stat generation method is would be my guess. Monk's are plagued by MAD (Multiply Ability Dependence) at lower levels. MAD is actually a benefit if you have the means to boost a number of your stats -- generous initial stat generation, high levels of wealth (usually because you are very high level), and/or Vow of Poverty.

Do not worry about the arcane trickster. It's shtick is to get a good spell and Sneak Attack progression. Sneak Attack is not going to be a balance problem against Undead. If you allow feats that permit to Sneak Attack undead, it is a square deal if he uses his precious feats on that. A good spellcasting scout type character is a pretty solid idea.

Arcane Trickster is in the DMG. I have a character that was going to go for that, but it takes a while, and the trickster gets kinda screwed on skill points (4 + Int, as opposed to rogue's 8 + Int), so once you go trickster your rogue skills suffer.

From the SRD:
Hit Die: d4.
Requirements
To qualify to become an arcane trickster, a character must fulfill all of the following criteria.
Alignment: Any nonlawful.
Skills: Decipher Script 7 ranks, Disable Device 7 ranks, Escape Artist 7 ranks, Knowledge (arcana) 4 ranks.
Spells: Ability to cast mage hand and at least one arcane spell of 3rd level or higher.
Special: Sneak attack +2d6.

So looks like at least 4th level rogue, and either 5th wizard or 6th sorceror. I was looking for a good arcane/rogue PrC myself... if anyone has some ideas I'd like to see 'em. I guess the Arcane Trickster is alright, it just seems to be a long wait for what they get. They DO get caster levels every level, so that's nice. Also, they get an extra d6 sneak attack every other level. Unfortunately in the campaign I'm in we need a rogue much more than an arcane caster at the moment. I might still go Arcane Trickster, but in the meanwhile I'm setting off traps and leaving locked doors behind LOL.
