Hammerfast sounds neat

Agreed - it does sound neat. Though I'd have to know more about it before I'm completely sold on it... as we get closer to it, i'm sure we'll hear more.

HS1: Raise your hand if you're surprised it's another "Slay some goblins and kobolds".

True enough -- though, admittedly, if WotC is on this hope of bringing in new players, an intro/low level adventure will do better when it sticks to these easier concepts. They're probably not expecting many hardcore existing D&Der (like those of us on Enworld) to be eating that many low level published adventures. (of course, all this is just a guess on my part, I am no mind reader on marketing tactics).
If I did buy such a product, I'd probably stick an easy template (nothing more extravagant than an easy to remember bonus or resistance of some kind) on them with minor physical reskinning -- maybe they're all covered in boils and pox marks because they're actually touched by some far realms entity... thus, a lead in to something else ....

On the contrary.

A recent ENWorld poll asked how frequently DMs here used adventures. The lion's share of the responders were either 10% or less, or 90% or more.

And I've read a lot of posts from people here who tried 4e by using KotS.

I think using some other low level monsters would be more appropriate. Fell Taints or maybe some lower level Kenku would really freshen things up.

Personally, I'm glad they're using monsters that people actually have the minis for. Unlike fell taints for instance.

Regarding HS1, has there been any comment on why it was changed from its initial subject and premise of being the first of a series to focus on the Nentir Vale and the threat of the Iron Circle?
