Yes it is out.

Will you like it that depends. If you like 192 page old fashion hack-n-slash dungeon crawls you will love it.Otherwise probably not.I do like it but then I like Dungeon crawls.

It is also the first in a series and I think you might need the first one to use the others since in is apparently the center of a much much larger dungeon.

Does it seem like they have a grasp of the D20 rules, or is it way out there?

Also, is it the same flavor as Rappan Athuk, or a more "realistic" reasonable setting (as much as a fantasy one can be that is)?

I don't have a problem with the rules in this book. The only problems I see is frequent use of monsters and magic items from their previous books. But a clever DM could change the item/monster to something else. They also are not clear on what level characters should be to have some survival chance. After reading it thoughly my personal guess is mid to high and in some cases very high depending on what level you are in.

The difference between this dungeon and Rappan Athuk? I would say in Rappan Athuk the characters don't really have a real motivation to be down there other than getting rich/killed.In this one your motivation is to get out of there and back to your "real"world. The Dungeon is run by Caretakers and they are sort of like gods. They will assign the characters a quest to win their freedom.

Of course all the campaign background stuff can be used or discarded by the DM.

I think Dungeon world is closer to Undermountain in feel than Rappan Athuk was.

Great review. I actually looked thru it a few times over the weekend. I wont be buying it. And I LIKE dungeon crawls.

I may well use the concept though.
