Will,

Any idea when Dragonstar: The long road or the FFG steampunk book will be out?? Can't wait...must have them now... :)

Mike

Looks great !

One question about Midnight: In the Shadows - this product is in your schedule one month after Midnight - what is it? A Sourcebook? An Adventure?

Mike,

Don't know about Long Road. Last I heard Sorcery & Steam was out in late April. I think there's a thread about it on the FFG Website.

Darke,

Midnight: Against the Shadow is actually a player companion book to Midnight, although there is going to be a lot of stuff in there of interest to DMs as well.

Ooh, can I help start a FAQ, by asking questions? :)

The bonus damage for the Masterful Strike ability -- does it multiplied on a critical hit? I presume not, since it's bonus damage expressed as dice -- but boy, does that suck for the defender. Defender: "Ha! A critical hit! I deal . . . uh, an extra 1d6+4 damage." Axe-wielding fighter: "I critically hit, too. I got an extra 2d8+16, thanks to my magic axe and weapon specialization."

It looks like low-level defenders will have worse ACs than monks, thanks to no armor and a low AC bonus -- +1 or +2, compared to a monk that can get +3 or +4 with a good Wisdom. Sucks to be them.

And those poor Will and Fort saves are gonna hurt, compared to the monk. Ooh, I just realized, they don't get Evasion, either. So that good Ref save isn't going to be as useful as a rogue's. Ouch, again.

It kind of feels weaker than the monk. Now I want me or somebody to play one of these, so I can see if it really is weaker. :)

(Of course, a monk/defender multiclass . . . say, 4 levels of monk, then 16 levels of defender . . . ;) )

I'm looking forward to reading Midnight; it sounds cooler all the time.

Extra damage dice are never multiplied. The damage should be adjudicated like sneak attack damage dice.

I guess the best response to these are: the defender is neither a monk nor a rogue. :) You could turn these around a say a monk with a 10 Wis doesn't have as good an AC as a defender, or a rogue can't take an extra action once per round per class level, and a monk doesn't get as good a BAB as the defender. :) This class does what it does, not what other classes do. Some of the defender abilities are pretty powerful.

Me too! :)

I have a quesiton about the classes in Midnight: Will all the classes have a AC bonus similar to the Defender? I also notice that the Defender has class abilities that are similar to the alternate rogues and rangers in your website, so will all future classes be built along those lines?

*edit: I know this may not be important, but for me it is. this is my 500 post on here, a milestone for me personally and I am proud to be a member of this community for so long*

The defender's class AC Bonus is unique to that class. As far as using abilities from the alternate classes on the Website, that's just a decision I made for the defender, and the wildlander has some as well. I think re-using good OGC is a good thing, and in this case even better since it was from FFG! :)
