FFG Warhammer 40,000 RPG

I loved the second edition of Warhammer frp but never got to run it. Very cool system and fluff but when I bought Dark Heresy, I couldn't figure out what to do with it. It was also limited in application like Trinity from White Wolf. I didn't like the model for the game and detest that it was carried over for Star wars. The system seemed ok being lifted from whfrp but didn't really fit the setting as nicely as it could have. When ffg discontinued second ed Warhammer, I stopped bothering with their stuff because it is so pricey. I think something like mutants & Masterminds serves the what40k game better. 0

Never played M&M. Hero/Champions guy from the very earliest days of Champions so super hero games are hard to get into my hands. I do know a few Marvel Super Heroes (Not the soon to be discontinued MWP version) folk, again going back many moons.

What's the story with M&M?

Think hero without a calculator

Well, that's not REALLY Hero, is it? D&D without a 20 sider isn't D&D...

A 10d6 RKA sounds fearsome, even if you have no idea what an RKA is.

Seriously, what I'm getting from this is M&M is a point buy system, Savage World-ish? Ars? With a "to hit number" based on a single die and some kind of fixed damage mechanism based on die plus attributes/bonuses (not unlike the afore-slandered D&D)

Not at all like d&d aside from roll a d20 add mods vs. A target number. Combats are much smoother and very elegant, damage being a save really allows for great tension and the hero point mechanic emphasizes genre tropes
