I don't know what they were saying about a lot of these monsters being original ones, especially when I do recognize a large number of them being conversions from previous editions. But then again I'm glad that they did bother to convert a bunch of old creatures, but it's certainly not what they said in one of the previews. I'm glad that Spriggans, Dark Creepers and Dark Stalkers, Alkilith Demons, Rilmani, the other Devas, Mongrelmen (I do find the word Mongrelfolk sort of unwieldy), Zodar, and Demodands/Deodands/Gehreleths/Whatever are finally back. So here's the questions for those who have it: Something occured to me back in Dungeon 97, the Dark Creepers and Stalkers were given the subtype Dark One, did they add any other creatures with this subtype? How does an Aurumach being the most powerful Rilmani (Aurum=gold, hence why they're at the top) compare to it's counterparts such as Pit Fiends and Balors? I take it that the Half-Illithid template represents what Bruce Cordell called Ceremorphised creatures back in 2e? Is a Spriggan considered a Gnome, Giant, both or neither? What's with the Wendigo being a template? Last time I checked they were cannibalistic spirits from the Native mythology of Canada that's sort of like a sasquatch, wouldn't it just be best represented by being a normal monster instead of a template? Yeah I know many D&D monsters based on mythological creatures aren't always the most accurate.
