I don't have it yet, but plan to buy it. I suggest you do the same or if your finances don't allow for it, then take a trip to the bookstore and committ what you want to memory.

I would say you use the same guidelines that are in the Monster Manual for advancing monsters. The entry for the fiend will tell you at what hit die they will change size catergories. Just add hit dice. Outsider hit dice have good saves in all three catergories, good BAB, d8 hit dice, and 8 + int skill points per level. They get feats at every hit die divisible by three. The DC's for special abilites should advance with hit dice since they are usually 10 +1/2 hit die + charisma modifier. I think the CR is increased by 1 for every four hit dice and 1 more for increasing size. Hopefully, that helps.

I'm familiar with the advancement by HD guidelines from the MM, and quite frankly they're boring as hell. I'm really just interested in this tidbit from one of the codices because it suggests how often to boost a fiend's stats per CR, and I'd like to compare it to my own thoughts on the matter. If nobody's willing to help me out, I'll just go to Borders and hope that the right book is there so that I can take a peek, but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask the folks here.

OH ... increasing stats and stuff by CR ... that's for advancing Demon Lords (and I would assume their Diabolical counterparts).

Ditto, Shazman. Even if I wanted to buy one I think I'd have to order it; I visited a B&N last night and no codices in sight. Plenty of Drow of the Underdark on the shelves...wtf? Why do we need an entire book about drow?

Only demon lords you say? Well would you mind posting the guidelines for HD and stats anyway, Javcs?

Always check the store locator online and verify a store actually has the book before wasting your gas! I've done this before myself, and could've kicked myself for not checking first. Browsing at a store is a good idea and has made me decide to buy some books and not others. Good luck.
