I was kinda sorta worried that they'd look too 'cartoony' for me, but they don't; I think they look awesome.Alright. I just got back from the post office, with my counter collections in hand. Here is my 'mini review'. NOTE: scroll down about a page for the entire list and quantity of counters included.The box that the counters comes in is very thick and sturdy.  It's a little bit thicker and sturdier than goodman games's dcc "the heroes arise", "saga of the dragon cult", and "dcc 35 gazeteer". The counters themselves are thick. I got a quarter and a counter from wotc's 4e starter set and compared all three. Both wotc's counter and fiery dragon's counter seem just a hair thinner than the quarter, but I can't see any difference in thickness between either counter.A sheet of these counters feels a little lighter than the sheet of counters that came with wotc's 4e starter set, but there's more counters on fiery dragon's sheet [and I think that shiny coating on wotc's counters may affect this as well].There are 15 'pages' of counters: 8 pages of small 1"x1" counters [80 counters/page = 640 small counters]6 pages of large 2"x2" counters [20 counters/page = 120 large counters]1 page w/2, huge 3"x3" counters, five large 2"x2" large counters, and a 7"x6" area of bonus dunegon tiles [four 3"x3" and six 1"x1"]. total counters: 767; 640 small, 125 large, 2 huge. [bonus dungeon tiles: 10]There is no empty whitespace except for the borders on the 'pages'; each page is completely & efficiently used.also included is a 17"x22" paper battlemat that has a very reflective coating on it. At the upper far left corner of each 'page', size and level are indicated. For example, on 'page' one, it says, "small and medium - levels 1-2". At the upper far right corner the 'page' number is given. The bottom of each 'page' lists the monsters on that page.The counters are double sided; on the back is the same image with a red border to indicate that it's 'bloodied'. It also shows the name of the creature.So far, the counters appear to separate easily and without tearing or damaging other connected counters. I will be using zip loc bags to keep them organized by the 'page' they came off of. So, I'll have a bag for 'levels 1-2' 'levels 3-4', etc.There is an error on 'page' 3/15. Instead of saying "levels 3-4", it says "levels 1-2". Also on page 3/15, instead of listing the name on the back of each counter, only one of each type is labeled, i.e., instead of each human guard saying "human, guard" on the back, only one does. Also, on page 11/15, only one ogre is labeled, similar to the error on page 3/15.Also, page 10/15 doesn't list the monsters on the bottom of the page, nor does it list size and level in the upper left hand corner.I really think that this product will give many DMs enough variety in one box. If you plan to run very large battles, and/or if you plan to have your PC's fighting large amounts of lower level opponents [34 kobolds of the exact same type, for example], two or more boxes may suit your needs even better.I believe this product to be a great value for people who don't have a lot of money to spend on minis. Even if you do, I think this product would be a great supplement to your minis collection, using the counters as 'minions' and the plastic minis as 'regulars'.final score:construction & art:
