Fighting Wizard?

First Post
There's the Battle Sorceror(AU) and Stalwart Sorceror(Comp Mage) variants for Sorcerors who like to fight; is there anything similar for a Wizard?

You could always multiclass, though armor restrictions still apply; multiclassing into armor-light classes (such as Rogues) is probably preferrable to multiclassing into Fighters.

Sure there is. It's called Swashbuckler 3/Wizard/Eldritch Knight... (which, incidently, is one of the main characters in Doug Bassingwaithe's Eberron trilogy "The Dragon Below"). Throw in a few Duelist levels for the extra Int to AC action. :D

In terms of PrCs...

Eldritch Knight: This class has been made into a joke by other PrCs...

Waterdeep Specialist: From Waterdeep hardcover. Not the name of it, but it gets big hit dice regardless of core class. (It's like a template PrC). Errata may have fixed that.

Adjuration Champion: From Complete Mage. d10 hit dice, fighter's bab, full spellcasting at all levels plus special abilities. WFT?

Eldritch Knight w/Horse from one of the Eberron books. d8 hit dice, fighter's bab, I think almost full if not full spellcasting and special abilities related to their horse. Another WFT in comparission to the base set down by the Eldritch Knight which gets d6 hit dice, loses a level of spellcasting ability, generally requires you to multiclass and gives you no special abilities.

The mage blade from Arcana Evolved and the Dusk Blade from Player's Handbook II act as okay substitues for 'em.

Unearthed Arcana has a short wizard variant that swaps fighter bonus feats for scribe scroll and the wizard bonus feats. It doesn't help with weapon selections, armor, BAB, or HD, but if you don't want to scribe scrolls every wizard can use improved initiative, dodge, and deflect arrows.

Substitute levels- Extra spells from Int mod for a good BAB.

I can see the flavor now. 'Some Wizards stop training early to practice with swords and other weapons.'

How about a level of fighter to take two-weapon fighting and two-weapon defense then wizard with a wicked quarterstaff? My dwarf wizard had gotten a -1 to hit, +5 damage staff from the party when he joined it. it was sa-WEEET! I t would also work well with a pair of magical daggers!

Anything from two to five levels of monk make for an awesome wizard that can defend himself! Same with a Barbarian 3/wizard whatever!
