One thing I did think about was a keen rapier (or scimitar), since this would give me the 30% chance of a threat without having to spend a feat. Or there's the falchion, which is 2-handed and does 2d4 base damage. Thing is, I've found some decent magic weapons, and I'm reluctant to start enchanting a masterwork weapon from scratch. In any case, I don't think my character has much money left over now anyway, so I might need another adventure before I can fund anything like that. I've haven't played many spellcaster PrCs, but I'm really enjoying this one! It's great with wizards, though I suppose if you really want to emphasise the corruption of the natural order, you can't beat a druid turned Alienist! The whole thing was rather involuntary on my character's part - he got caught up in a weird sacrifical ritual to some alien horror, and when it was disrupted he ended up getting reincarnated (sort of) into an elven wizard. Now he carries some kind of Far Realms taint, and he's developed a rather unhealthy fascination for the whole thing. One or two of the party are getting a tad suspicious... ;) That's why his stats are bit weird, and why he's suddently decided he wants to be a spellsword (his new persona is a bit aggressive, compared to most wizards.) Part of me still wants to take one more level of Spellsword and then go Alienist the rest of the way. I suspect I'll end up deciding based on the events of the campaign. It's going to be interesting to see how things turn out - will he turn his back on his tainted nature and try to live a normal life, or is the final BBEG of the campaign going to be himself? Mechanics-wise, the pseudo-natural template on my summoned creatures is pretty good, and my familiar is a more resilient thanks to the same template. There's a few other goodies - you get small bonus to saves, and a couple of Metamagic feats at 3rd and 7th level. If you go all the way to 10th level, you become an Outsider! There's some drawacks too - a 2 point Wisdom drop, and harsh penalties on Diplomacy and Handle Animal. Requirements aren't too bad; you need knowledge in Planes & Arcana, and also Augment Summoning, which probably means Spell Focus (Conjuration) as well. The Thaumataturgist PrC from the DMG might provide a good lead-in. Had a slight problem with the non-lawful requirement, since he was lawful to begin with, but he's committed some questionable acts since then, so he's neutral now. Anyway, I'd finish by saying that my Alienist/Spellsword is probably my most compelling, memorable, and deeply flawed character ever. If your PC is already into summoning, I'd say go for it!
