Fire Elemental summoned in Australia - Firenado

They'repretty scary, but normal phenomenon in any place that gets high cross winds and bush fires.

There was a really, really bad series of them during an earthquake in Japan in 1923. Yokohama was basically destroyed, and then 60% of Tokyo burned to the ground.

The Japanese term for them is "fire dragon". As a bonus the temperature near them reaches 2500 degrees Celsius. The Great Kanto Earthquake's fire whirl killed 38,000 people in around 15 minutes. Its not just Australia, and that one is tiny in comparison to how big they can get.

That being said Australia had a flash over of around 120 hectares (300 acres) that burst into flames in less than 0.04 of a second. So, yes Australia really is trying to kill you.

Video and description in the link.

Had to look that up, I never heard of it.

The worst thing is that if the earthquake had happened and hour before or after it did , it was basically noon so right around when everybody was prepping food over an open flame, then the fires wouldn't have been so bad. The earth quake more less knocked over every single fire based cooking appliance in Tokyo at the time.

I've never heard of such a thing. Not...not to that extent anyway. That's like the elementals in Japan were really, really pissed off that day. A 650 foot high tornado of fire a thousand feet across.
