So, I have this burning desire to play a D&D game based loosely on the Fire Emblem model of having every NPC you command to have story, background, desires and relationships. Unfortunately, that is probably never going to happen, but like many of my gaming related burning desires, it will eventually pass. Or not.
In any case, coincidentally, Forge of War is coming out next month, the Eberron supplement based on the Last War, the century long conflict central to that setting. I'll definately be picking that one up, as it would likely be a great companion for that time of game, every if not set during the war itself.
So, while I am biased towards playing real D&D, I was wondering if anyone thinks such a game would be better suited for DDM. On the surface, perhaps yes, but has anyone ever seen an actual role-playing/war-gaming campaign using DDM, or do DDM players just stick to combat?
