The only major ones left unresolved were Shepherd Book's mysterious past, which seems doubly dead and buried at this point, and the will-they-won't-they between Mal and Inara, which was clearly still unresolved as of the start of the movie.So this series isn't going to be tying anything up. Most likely it'd be a series of largely unrelated plots much like the TV series, or will introduce something new to then be wrapped up within its own runtime.
