And to cut down on excess casualties, I think we should fake transporting starving orphans to food. Then we just need a ship problem that is so pathetic they’ll have to stop. Like ‘heat radiator busted, children freezing to death.

Asta pointed out the problem of not having the heat signatures on board to simulate the orphans, so Mort said he’d rig some heating units to up to look vaguely human shaped. They then discussed how to deal with these people and talked about how to go about gassing them. Jenny then stumbled into the med bay and puked on Daniel’s shoes. Take: (over intercom) I’m dying! From Daniel’s grunts and Jenny’s responses in between retching, Asta quickly determined that they both had a bad case of food poisoning from their lunch at Wong’s Chinese Buffet. They are headed for Regina. Niska stood up and poked the computer matt on his desk. It changed to show the system with a line connecting two planets. Niska: This is their registered flight plan. Take: Where are the cruisers hiding? Niska: Good to see you know Alliance. There are no cruisers. They are freelance, like you. They take on job for Alliance often. Their Captain was big hero in the war. Mort: For which side? Niska: For Alliance. They are scheduled to make drop on Regina in two days time at three in afternoon here. *Niska brings up map of Regina and docks* Niska: This is last chance for you to acquire cargo. Two crates. I leave up to you when you appropriate goods. The goods will then be taken to moon Zorba. Buyer there, Alma Cook, has payment for goods. We have agreed up payment for goods. It is not negotiable. Mort: So we’ll be picking up the money and bringing it back to you? Niska: You will receive payment and then meet Arsov here. *Niska brings up map of hunk of rock for rendezvous* Mort discussed with Take how they could possibly hijack the ship. He suggested playing victim and hoping they stop Mort: Or we could just dock with them whether they liked it or not. We’re faster than them. Asta and I could pop open the doors. She probably wouldn’t go for the whole venting them into space. I think we’ll look as pathetic as possible so they’ll stop for us. Ship full of orphans. Radiation leak. Take: (to Niska) Okay, yeah. I guess we can take the job. Niska: Good to see someone so enthusiastic about your work. Take: Oh yeah. We’re all about the enthusiasm. Mort: Anything else we take along the way is okay for us to keep? Niska: Yes. Mort: (Mr. Burns voice) Excellent. Take: I assume the middleman is trustworthy. Niska: I suppose you mean Alma? She less middleman, more buyer. I am setting you up with job and ready buyer. Payment is agreed upon and is not negotiable. It is expected. Take quickly discussed payment with Niska. Niska: Payment for job two thousand platinum. Half money now, Arsov give you other half at rendezvous point. They collected the payment for Tako, half payment for the current job, and the information Niska had for them before heading back to the ship. Back on the ship, Mort prettied up the job for the others. Mort: We’re going to go steal food from the Alliance and give it to people that need it. Asta pointed out that they still had the air guns from looting customs. Mort: Captain. The doctor is making us all nonfatal. Campan: We’re supposed to kill the orphans! Asta: There are no orphans. Campan: What? Mort: She wants us to use the tranq guns we made up previously and sleep gas and she’s taking all the fun out of it. Take: So the problem is you’re not allowed to kill anybody anymore? Mort: I think we should talk to the doctor about this. Campan: Well, you can kill people with the tranq guns, though. You know, shoot them in the neck. I kinda left one at the robbery. Didn’t mean to. Take: Are you trying to replace all our guns with tranq guns? Asta: Well, I’m just thinking, you know, that the stealing food and giving to hungry people sounds like a good idea. Um, having more murders on our plate maybe less good of an idea. Mort: Consequential. Take: Well, if there is no one left around to identify us…? Asta: It’s not nice to kill people, you know. It is really wrong. Mort: I suppose we could cut out the taking their ship entirely. Take: (whispers to Mort & Campan) I think we need a new doctor. Campan: I don’t want a doctor that is pro killing people. Take: She’s really good, but. Mort: I’m with Campan. I don’t want a doctor that is pro killing people. This will lead to bad things later on. Take: Yeah, but she keeps trying to stop us from doing our jobs… Liz: She lets you rob people blind, she just has problems with you killing. They left it at that.
