Hmm yesterday something came up that I couldnt handle after the rules as written. Please if someone knows where to look things up, help! Our Mulhorandi Tiefling Mage (+Fire Savant) got attacked by an pretty anry DEVA (angel), the Mage was instantly blinded and deafend by the holy word but still managed to throw up his two main defence spells "improved blink" and "fireshield" (stoneskin was allready active). The Deva kept hitting him. A player mentioned to me that the Deva had to check EVERY TIME for Spell Resistance against the Fireshields damage, as the rules didnt anymore support the "you save once and never have to save again against the same spell" thing. I was like ??, and quickly looked through the DMG and PHP (3.5). both actually didnt support that...at least from what I understood (so the DEVA had to check for each hit)...is that right? The main argument brought up was that even though the fireshield is an ongoing effect, the damage it deals isnt. Its like being hit by a new spell everytime you strike the warded creature...(like a retaliative spell or a contingency) While thinking about it I gave my players right, even tho the Deva's resistance held against the few hits it could land on the mage. btw: anyone noticed how strong wizards can be in the defence? Most monsters can do :):):):) about it  :D ;) :p
