I have played other CoC versions so I am not sure how good the book is for an introductory CoC game, but it does do well to cover the Mythos and explain a lot of ideas; I particularly like the use of quotes from the different stories or "Lovecraft Speaks" quotes from non-fiction comments.Hit points are d6 for everyone (+/-0 CON).The spells and monster sections provide a lot of entries and the artwork is pretty good throughout. There is a wealth of information for the gamemaster over 3 chapters for running games as well as 2 adventures.My only complaint so far is the price, I was surprised when the store rung me up for $43 (after tax.)</blockquote>
