Fixing the weretouched master

Considering the other abilties the class gets, would it be fair to
change the weretouched master so that alternate form, instead of
granting full hybrid were-shape, grants +6/+4/+2 to physical stats,
distributed depending on the animal chosen?

Say, +6 Con, +4 Dex, +2 Str for the wolverine (incredibly tough, all
hyped up, but not all that strong), +6 Str, +4 Con, +2 Dex for the bear
(very strong, tough, but not really fast)...

I'm pretty convinced that the basic concept is much sounder than the
bear getting +12/+2/+8 to Str/Dex/Con, and the rat getting +0/+6/+2, but
I'm wondering about the particular numbers.

Trying to look at it as a player, the class still looks good enough to
play. Actually, for a shifter, it might still look good enough to play
even without any alternate form at all... maybe +4/+2/+0?

That actually seems like a really good fix to the class. I might consider adding another special ability based on the type of animal, just to make it more flavorful. Diehard for the wolverine, Improved Grab for the bear, Pounce with natural attacks for the tiger, etc. Rat might get... uhhh. Constant immunity to disease? A bonus to Fort saves? I'm not sure. It would work much better than the current class, though.
