[QUOTE="Technik4, post: 353802, member: 7211"] [b]More Feats[/b] I like the concept of getting more feats at 1st level for certain people, so I was toying around with a point system for feats. Basically any feat that is in a chain costs 3, and most decent feats no in a chain cost 3. A few cost 2, or by picking them more than once, their price is reduced to 2. And some really crappy feats are only 1. Tell me what you think: -Feat Points- A system to fix the problem of “some” feats are better than others, and add a lot to certain classes. Every 3 Character Levels a Character gains 3 feat points. Standard, good feats cost 3 points. Humans begin the game with 3 feat points (instead of their extra feat), Half-Elves get 1 feat point, as do Half-Orcs. Breaking down the points: A good feat, that most people use or a feat that is used in a chain of feats is worth 3 points. Example: Power Attack A decent feat, that is useful but not exceedingly powerful is 2 points. Example: Alertness A weak feat, that is usually taken for role-playing or background reasons is 1 point. Example: Run, Endurance. Here are the point breakdowns for the PHB: General Feats Feat Point Alertness 2 Ambidexterity 3 Armor Proficiency (Light) 2 (Medium) 2 (Heavy) 1 Blind-fight 3 Combat Casting 2 Combat Reflexes 3 Dodge 3 Mobility 3 Spring Attack 3 Endurance 1 Exotic Weapon Proficiency 3* Expertise 3 Improved Disarm 3 Improved Trip 3 Whirlwind Attack 3 Great Fortitude 3 Improved Critical 3* Improved Initiative 2 Improved Unarmed Strike 2 Deflect Arrows 3 Stunning Fist 3 Iron Will 3 Leadership 3 Lightning Reflexes 3 Martial Weapon Proficiency 3* Mounted Combat 3 Mounted Archery 3 Trample 3 Ride-by Attack 3 Spirited Charge 3 Point Blank Shot 3 Far Shot 3 Precise Shot 3 Rapid Shot 3 Shot on the run 3 Power Attack 3 Cleave 3 Imp Bull Rush 3 Sunder 3 Great Cleave 3 Quick Draw 3 Run 1 Shield Proficiency 2 Simple Weapon Proficiency 3 Skill Focus 2** Spell Focus 3* Spell Penetration 3 Toughness 2 Track 3 Two-Weapon Fighting 3 Imp Two-Weapon Fight 3 Weapon Finesse 3* Weapon Focus 3* Item Creation Feats Feat Point Brew Potion 3 Craft Magic Arms and Armor 3 Craft Rod 2 Craft Staff 2 Craft Wand 3 Craft Wondrous Item 3 Forge Ring 2 Scribe Scroll 2 Metamagic Feats Feat Point Empower Spell 4, j/k 3 Enlarge Spell 3 Extend Spell 3 Heighten Spell 2 Maximize Spell 3 Quicken Spell 3 Silent Spell 2 Still Spell 2 Special Feats Feat Point Extra Turning 3 Spell Mastery 3* Weapon Specialization 3* *- The first time this feat is taken it is 3 points, afterwards it is only 2 points. **- The first time this feat is taken it is 2 points, afterwards it is only 2 points. So, that is my table. Has this been tested in any way? No. This is just a crazy idea I’ve had for a while. This generally speaking requires a more meticulous, more numbers-oriented group. However, this system doesn’t require prestige classes to have crappy feats as pre-reqs to balance said crappy feats. IE- Well sure you get to add your wisdom to your attack bonus and your charisma to your AC, but look Mr. DM, you have to have both Alertness and Skill Focus Profession:Munchkin….. Anyway, if there is interest I will do other books, I have most that have been released. Finally, I'm sorry this was just a piece I was toying around with, but hadn't gotten around to posting. It does relate to the flaws system though, as you could make weaker flaws which would only give 1 feat point. Off the top of my head: Socially Inept [Flaw] 1 pt. Req: 1st level only and cha less than 13 Anti-Benefit: This character receives a -2 penalty on all charisma related skills and checks. Social Outcast [Flaw] 2pt. Req: 1st level and not human (for worlds where humans are the most populated) Anti-Benefit: This character or his/her character's family has done something to give them minor reknown across the country. Unfortunately, it was atrocious and now most people fear to have any dealings with him/her. It confers a -10 to any diplomacy check for any party with him/her in it, and a -20 if you go before any official of that country. Additionally all attempts to change the reaction of NPCs in that country suffer a -10 penalty. These penalties are only at half-strength at neighboring countries. Idiot [Flaw] 1 pt. Req: First level only and int less than 13 Anti-Benefit: This character is an idiot. They receive a -2 penalty on all int based skills and int checks, additionally they must actively try to say at least 1 stupid thing per session. Clutz [Flaw] 1pt. Req: First level only and dex less than 13 Anti-Benefit: This character receives a -2 penalty to all dex based skills and dex checks. Additionally this character has a -2 initiative penalty. Frail [Flaw] 1pt. Req: First level only and con less than 13 Anti-Benefit: This character receives a -2 penalty on all con based skills and checks. Additionally, they automatically fail their first 2 saves against disease or poison. They also receive a -2 penalty to any strenuous activity that goes on for a long period of time. Weak [Flaw] 1pt. Req: First level only and str less than 13 Anti-Benefit: This character receives a -2 penalty on all str based skills and checks. Additionally all str based skills are always considered cross-class, regardless of the characters class. This character also receives a -2 penalty against diseases and poison. Just some ideas.
