If I can ask, why does Media need a DVD category? I can't think of anything that wouldn't be covered by the Movies or TV categories.
Agreed. The benefit of easy sorting starts to degrade if we add another "wildcard" category. Is there a really pressing need for it, Frukathka?

The Great Courses that I check out regularly from my local library would be served by such a tag.

Plus, much of what you get with an actual DVD Movie or TV series, extras and commentary, often gets lost in threads of their regular counterpart. I suppose it can be accomplished in the thread title but would be easier with a category of its own.

This is exactly my thinking as well.

I really don't see the problem with a thread titled (for example based on recent purchases) "Heroes DVD set" or "Indiana Jones Box Set." A poster can always ask people in the thread to limit discussion to the features, and not episodes. For that matter, the initial poster pretty much sets the terms of the thread - for example, Truth Seeker asking that there be no conversation of an episode in his threads before it airs on the East Coast.

I think that the instances of it being warranted are so esoteric as to make it unnecessary.
