My name is Rick Hershey, I own and operate Empty Room Studios, we provide lots of services to rpg and comic publishers. you can check us out here Empty Room Studios Anyway, so I had this idea that we've been discussing and wanted to get some thoughts on it from the those who might be interested. Empty Room Studios is a full production studio, meaning we can provide everything needed to create a book (painters, illustrators, cartographers, writers, design, layout, etc.) and we provide these services to publishers who make books and sell them. The idea we had is, what if we did a fund raiser type deal to create a budget for a product - like an adventure series, or setting book, or whatever. The money raised would cover the costs of prduction on the book. And when it is complete it would be made available as a free pdf to all who donated for the budget. We would also probably look into doing a print book at Lulu or something also. Now, we would also have that those who donate a certain amount would get to toss in ideas on what they want to see in the book. So, say you donate $20, you now get to talk with the creative team in a private forum and let them know what you want in the product. Locations, npc's, weapons, whatever. So, that's is basically the idea. We raise the money to do a free product for those who donate based on ideas of what they want to see in a book. We really think this might be interesting for such things as adventure material - but we would consider other ideas. So, if something like this was started, would you be interested in it? (I'm not sure if this is the right forum, so feel free to move it if i'm way off)
