"Is the character supposed to total up all of his possessions, houses, cars, etc and instantly double it for no reason other than he hit 7th level?? That is just silly!" Is that any more silly than anything else about a levels-based game? I would assume that the characters investments are continuing to grow - and a good DM would incorporate it into the campaign that way. "...you'd have to be a gun-nut to be accurate in your constructions! You have to choose a propellant size, bullet caliber, barrel length, receiver, feed, and then add any special abilities it needs! How many people can do all of that for a long list of guns? " Well everyone in the groups I've gamed with could do it - and in fact have many times as we've developed our own combat systems over the years. In fact in my designs I took into account muzzle energy and bullet area in the penetration and wound values! From a cursory glance at FK this seems to me to be one of the strong points of the game because it's simple and standardized yet allows ample customization. And just in general, I think the strength of the OGL is that it encourages different perspectives. I'd hate to have every game just be D&D with different names for the character classes.
