Sounds like the PCs are just dicks... If they carry on this way the only quests they are going to get will be clearing otyughs from the city sewers.

This suggestion really appealed to me. Are your PCs jerking around your quest givers and not taking up reasonable hooks? WORSE QUESTS! Maybe they'll take the castle defense job next time after spending this session collecting owlbear pellets for the mad old wizard or skinning rats.

Is it a bad idea to potentially make the PCs not have fun, just because they were rude to your NPCs? Or is it a fair consequence? Let's assume it is a good idea. What are the absolute worst quests you can think of to send them on?

We once undertook a quest in which a necessary task was to "wallow in the bowels of Orlash."

Orlash was a giant frog. Who was also, apparently, a portal.

Send the PCs to the sewers to clean them out. Of course, it is not monsters that the sewers needs to be cleaned of..

I like that one because it's not unpleasant to play through... but it sends a very clear message to the players. Also, it's just funnily done.

I always thought that killing rats was rather demeaning.
