FOTR DVD extras...

First Post
This turned up on Dark Horizons today.

"The Lord of the Rings: FOTR (DVD): At a DVD launch last night in Sydney, it was confirmed that the 4-Disc edition (whose details have yet to be announced) will NOT include any of the same extras as those on the 2-Disc August version. Approximately 250,000 copies of the 'limited edition' leather bound versions of the 4-Disc set will be released in Oz in November. Meanwhile DVD Alliance reports that the upcoming French version of the 4-Disc set will include two DTS tracks - French 5.1 and English 6.1 ES, the 2-disc set in August won't have DTS. Thanks to 'Popal'"

Guess I'll be getting the 2 & 4 disc sets after all.

I'll wait until I hear what's on each. I doubt all the material will be good, so one will be better then the other. But they sure are trying to get as much money out of this as they can. :(

I agree, I don't think I have ever poped a bonus DVD in to watch. So I will stick with whichever version has the longer movie.

I don't mind the goodies, as long they're good goodies (trailers, interview, documentary on the film's casting and productions including special effects, computer game, etc.). It make my $24 investment on DVD worth it.

Of course, I don't know which version to get, the one that is coming out now or soon, or another version later in the year just before LOTR: The Two Towers, which I believe to have more stuff on the DVD including a trailer of second LOTR movie.

I wanted them to package the theatre and the director's cut together, but I wasn't holding my breath. I wasn't surprised to hear they're releasing the two versions separately.

I just don't want to see them releasing a special edition next year, a platinum edition the following year and the ultimate edition the year after that. That sort of blatant cash grab really annoys me.

Well, annoys isn't the right word, but Eric's Grandmother doesn't want to know how I really feel about it.;)
