FR 3.5 Help on making a chosen of Moradin

questionmark

First Post
I posted this question in the rules forum but i think it belongs here.
is there a reference for making a chosen of (blank) template anywhere i want to make a chosen of moradin for my FR campaign. what would the LA be. how early should this be awarded to a pc? What powers would a chosen of moradin have? Any ideas appreciated.

A little background: a young dwarf is forced into a life of crime to support his brother and himself He forms a ragtag thieves "guild" and gains minor victories in the cities harbor. Though living as a thief the drwarf does what he has to for survival, but always manages to do the right thing when it comes to truly breaking the law or commiting evil acts(the right thing being NOT breaking the law or commiting evil acts). through some not so amazing circumstances (runnigthe party of young street punks witnesses a duel between two epic level characters. The battle ends quickly and after the victor wins he takes something off of the dead body and leaves. the pcs hesitantly leave their hiding places and begin looting the corpse (A powerfull red wizard) just as the city guard comes into sight. the party manages to evade the cityguard long enough buy some fine clothes and some of the finest ale the city. They are arrested shortly after their first round of ale, charged with murder, and put in the second level of the city jail, all seems to be as crappy as it can get... That night in the jail our slumbering party is visited by assassins. they fight the assassins valiantly and are sortly visited buy the prison guards, some city officials and the very same epic character that killed the red wizard. They are told that what they witnessed was officail city business, and the info they have is dangerous and they must abandon their old lives and move on with their lives. The party members are given a choice, stay here in jail as Pseudo prisoners to live out there lives in a little luxury as the cities permanent guests. Or aprentice at one of the cities' training acadamies, or organizations in the hope to make something out of themselves. Everyone elects for option B and goes off to one group or another(according to their class choice) to start their new lives. As the young dwarf leaves the cell the epic character pats him on the back. Just as the Epic character makes contact, the epic characters bracers(which were made by moradin) begin to glow. the lights leap from the bracers and tatoo the symbol of moradin on the young dwarfs Chest where his heart is. The dwarf is knocked out by the assualt and has a vision were he meets moradin and is told to "walk the path". He wakes aprentices to the academy of blade and battle were he excells. He and the rest of the party graduate from there prospective schools and elect to follow the dwarf to the nearest dwarven city. The travel to the city and upon entering the temple of moradin as he prays to the soul forger, he feels new power flowing into him when finished, the dwarf rose he was no longer a simple dwarven fighter but a palladin of moradin.

well thats were this character currently stands i want him to be a chosen of moradin as well as a paladin but i dont know were to start or how to pull it off Please HELP!!!!

Quite naturally the LA should be very dependat of the abilities that the template grants. However, I recommend not using any template as such (immediately boost of power) but instead let the character receive the powers slowly, starting from the least effective ones. This could be done in couple of ways: etiher create a PrC like the Dragon Dicipline which is tailor made to that character/chosen of Moradin or give those abilities him "for free" whenever it suits the story.

Essential powers of the Chosen of the Moradin should be somehow linked to the Hammer, Anvil and Forge. This could start with minor crafting bonuses (significat, but not very powerfull in battle), bonuses when fighting with hammer and later resistance/immunity to fire/heat and resistance/immunity to damage done by forged weapons, as Moradin is the Master of the Forge no Forge (or equipment made in there) could harm Moradin or his blessed follower.

A little PRC I use in my campaign, might help you a little. You could easily make it Chosen of Mordain or the like.

thanks for the replies i really apreciate it!

I like the idea of spreading it out throughout his levels but i dont know if a prc will work out though. I like the idea of predestiny, moradin select you as his chosen early and you gain benefits as you level but without changing his class. i want to do something in the same vein as the chosen of mystra, and chosen of bane. alot of epic characters are chosen of mystra, but when were they awarded that title, early or later in the adventuring careers? is it a predestined thing or did they earn it?
