In several months my players will finish RttToEE and move on to do what they've been wanting to do for some time now - go kill a bunch of Zhentarim. This is a side plot IMC that is about to evolve into the main story. A powerful merchant in Baldur's Gate had aquired an small force of very powerful undead created through the use of an artifact. He has used these undead to slowly take out rivals and increase his welath and power. he had become so influential that he recently revealed himself ot the entire city as a Zhentarim agent and a cleric of Bane and no one in authoirty could bat an eye. So, here's the undead template along with a sample one. Its based heavily off the Animus template from the FGreyhawk mag but I changed a few things. Please let me know what you think and suggest chnages. Shadowbound A Shadowbound is a special type of undead created through the use of an artifact of the church of Bane called the Amulet of D’Hazhil. Once per month the amulet can create a Shadowbound from a living worshipper of Bane. The Shadowbound will retain their mind plus all previous skills. They will also be totally loyal to their creator. Amulet of D’Hazhil This artifact can only be used by a cleric of Bane (or Xvim). It does 6d6 points of unholy damage to any other that touches it (though it can be handled safely through thick cloth or gauntlets). It confers a +5 divine bonus to armor class and saving throws. It can also be used as a pearl of power for spell levels 1-5 (once per day each level). Merinthas Velorin discovered the true power of the amulet when his first wife, Orva, lay dying. It can create undead Shadowbound. The ritual of creation requires a living worshipper of Bane (though they need not be willing) plus several rare alchemical ingredients worth no less than 10,000gp. Only one Shadowbound per month can be created (on the night of the new moon). Merinthas Velorin had managed to create 21 Shadowbound before the Amulet was stolen by his second wife, Rochelle.
