I need a little help with my Forgotten Realms campaign. Right now in my Faerun campaign there is a war going on between the human and the elves due to the disappearance of Dragondale, an elf city the players founded in 2E. The Dalelands Compact has become defunct as the humans encroach ever farther into the Cormanthor forest. The elves have blamed all of this on the nature-ravaging humans; the Eldreth Veluthra (an elven supremicist group going back to the founding of Myth Drannor as detailed in Lords of Darkness) has grown popular, formerly being a fringe group. Anyway, I was looking for plot twists for the game when I had a look-through the Epic-Level Handbook and Faiths and Pantheons when I found discussed the fall of Lolth and her children (Eilistraee and Vhaeraun when I had an idea for a third branch of elf evolution: a race of primarily neutral elves that have hidden in the shadows until recently. Basically, their creation myth would go something like this: unbeknownst to Lolth or Corellon, when Lolth fell she was pregnant. The child was born well after she took residence in the Demonweb Pits. When the child was born, she tried immediately to have the infant killed. Somehow it escaped to the shadows. Later the child would escape to Arvandor, but due to the ban the Seldarine placed on the realm to block entry by the drow pantheon, the god-child was thrown back and badly burned and scarred by the barrier. It is said that the burnt ashes that left his body silently rained down upon Faerun to form an nee elven race: the shadow elves (for lack of a better name). Created from the integration of darkness (from the brooding darkness of the Demonweb Pits) and light (from the holy fires of Arvandor), this new breed of elf could not openly survive in either the society of drow or surface elf. Instead, they clung to the fringe of society passing themselves off as other beings. Their creator, the unknown child of Lolth and Corellon, is said to either have completly combusted in Arvandor or to have fled to the Shadow Plane where it lurks to this day. The shadow elves stuck to the shadows, slowly building power with their innate disguise abilities in the societies of elf, drow, and man. Now they intend to make a great war to make all of the fanatical, xenophobic elements of the various cultures of Faerun wipe each other out. After all who would kill each other because of cultural differences were dead, the shadow elves would attempt to integrate everything left into one large, peaceful, utopian cultural melting pot type of society. Anyway, I was looking for comments on this plot-line and any good adventure suggestions or ideas you people might have, like how to reveal the shadow elf conspiracy without just giving it away to the players. Also, if anybody could help me think up better term than "shadow elf" and also a name for the unnamed shadow efl god, I would much apppreciate it. Thanks.
