Oh my god! ahem.. let me start again. Well, after visiting the NBOS site many times for many months, I finaly decided to buy the fractal mapper program. I admit I was interested ( since ver 5 I think ) for quite a while. But after reading the posts here I decided to give it a try. I started to buy it from the ENWorld board, but I came down with "gotta have it now" fever and went the RPGnow route ( sorry ENWorld :( ) . Ok now back to where I started.. Oh my god! This program is better than I even hoped or expected. Its soooo easy. I wanted to create a whole new world for fun and did it in no time at all. I knew you could click on the map and have random town names pop up on there, but I had no idea that FULL random town information was also generated for each of those dots.. ------------------ Example: Ötben Ki Population: 10100 (Elf - 6%, Dwarf - 7%, Halfling - 7%, Gnome - 2%) Ruler: Princess Tagényein T. Ti II Ruler's God: Thule Chief Industry: Agriculture - Farming Churches: Thule,Vigu,Thule,Vigu,Thule,Vigu Schools: The Örlés Military Academy,The Mesen School,Bísban University Taverns: The Gobbling Orc, The Maiden Fees:Entry toll (per person): 5cp, Entry toll (per work animal): 5cp Weapon Laws: Social norms encourage people to carry weapons for their protection. The people of Ötben Ki are very open minded, and love to meet and exchange ideas with people from other places. Princess Tagényein T. Ti II's compassion is well known. In fact, it might be too much. Those who bode ill for the city have in the past been given too much leeway to execute their schemes. Adventure Hooks: A wizard named Jo A. Ates approaches the group. He's discovered the location of an important , and wants to hire the party to retrieve it. The party is offered an 'easy' job by a Mercenary captain. ----------------------------------- And yes you can edit anything you want. This is all done automaticaly, all you do is click in a spot(s) on the map where you want to place your town(s). And thats just the start of the pleasant surprises I found after using it for only 1/2 hour. This program rocks. Now sure there are a few things I havent figured out how to do yet, but in 30 minutes I had an outstanding continent made with rivers, mountains, forests, towns etc. With random town names and town information all with a click. I have no artistic ability and have tried several other map tools. This one is the best ive used so far. I also made dungeon maps and cavern maps that looked spectacular ( again no art skills ) in minutes. If you are looking for a map tool give this one a try.
