Working on it
I really like the fractional bonus system from Unearthed Arcana, and I'd like to use said rule in a game with some classes with saving throws that go up to +9 over 20 levels, but it's way too late at night for me to be extrapolating formula from said saving throw progressions.
The +9 over 20 level progression from Monte Cook's Arcana Unearthed don't seem to follow a linear formula like the "good" and "bad" saves do (level/2 +2 and level/3 respectively) - but they do follow a regular pattern. Am I just sleep deprived and missing something, or do they not follow a formula that's easily reduced to a fractional bonus for a given level?
Does anyone have a good idea of a formula to use for a "middle" save? Should I just add 1/2 a save bonus for some levels and 1/3 a save bonus for other levels, like Monte's pattern seems to do?
Level*5/12+1 is the "average" of the two PHB formulas, but that definately doesn't work out the same way. +.45 per level doesn't seem to work either, unless you add a constant to make second level a bonus of +1...
Stumped for now.
