I just finished both of those books recently, but I don't own either, so I'd like to have a digital copy for the future.

Hopefully Tor will go the way of Baen Books, which offers an excellent sampling of free e-books as a way of getting readers interested in new authors.

I just signed up too. Free ebooks just for signing up to a mailing list was too good to pass up, and I've been wanting to check out Mistborn ever since it was announced that the author would be writing the last Wheel of Time book...

But now I'm regretting it. There's no connection between this site and TOR Publishing's main site, beyond a hyperlink. This link goes to WWW.Tor.Com, which has no content to it other than this Watch the Skies sign-up page, and some "privacy info". The actual web portal for Tor Books is www.tor-forge.com. There's no mention of this offer on the main TOR site, or the main MacMillan site, of which TOR is an imprint. In fact, on the tor-forge site, there's a link to sign up for their newsletter...which is completely different from this Watch the Skies page. I've found it mentioned in a couple of Blogs, but no official communication from the publisher.

Nothing obviously nefarious going on, but my Web-Scam sense is tingling.

I'm really hoping this is legit...it's a great idea. But I'd advise being cautious about what you download from this weekly newsletter, or what information you provide them with beyond your e-mail, on the off chance that this is a scam.

If anyone has links to any kind of official announcement or offer from the Publisher, that would be awesome, and much appreciated.
