Free-Form d20

What do you think?

I'd like to play a wandering Quiche/Vampire/Ranger with Pizza and dogs as its favored enemies, as it began as a Commoner who was cursed to become a quiche baker, then polymorphed into a cat by a jealous street-pizza-vendor-sorceror-commoner-dog-vet-cleric, whose bakery was attacked by a vampire who needed cheese and eggs, and sometimes bacon, to survive.

I know it's kinda complicated, but, heck, why not...? Someone will figure it out.

Feh. Freeform is a medium populated by pasty-faced, self-important, self-absorbed poseurs. These people wouldn't know a Real Game if it hit them between the eyes at 0.1c.

Now diceless d20, that's something I'd like to see.

AAAGGGHHHH!!!

It burns! It burns!! =8-O

Sorry, I know you're just kidding. And I know I'm going to get jumped on for making such a broad generalization. But I'm going to anyway.

Diceless RPGs are the tool of the devil, the unholy love spawn of Bill Gates and Ted Bundy, and more disgusting than Marilyn Manson making love to Bea Arthur. I shudder at the mere mention of their names, tremble at the sound of their approach, burn at their touch. Mom! Dad! Don't touch it! It's eeevilllll!!!!!

:D

I started playing "diceless D&D" in 1981. My elementary school banned D&D, which was fine with us since we couldn't figure out how it worked anyway, so I played DM and players described what they did and I described what they saw, fought, how the fights went, etc. One time, at a sleep over, I even took the players through Shrine of the Kuo Toa without knowing the rules or using dice. Then I moved to Hawaii after 5th grade and thought that it was all over. Then one day -- I don't know how it got started -- in 6th grade, I started playing with a friend of mine at school. Pretty soon I had 4 players.

After that we switched to playing D&D w/dice after school. But we kept playing "diceless" during school (until the end of 6th grade).

Diceless? We practically invented it! :D

No I invented Diceless

You see my mum bought me a carrion crawler and two bullywugs for my birthday and everyday I would have the Carrion crawler appear out from under a spare t-shirt and attack the bullywugs who would then turn around and fight back...

Finally I actually got to read the books (Basic Red box set) and create a cleric and well...

Anyone tried D6 D20?

RPGs are flexible enough to play diceless.

Want a real challenge? Try playing Monopoly or Yatzee without any dice or randomizers. :D

If you want freeform d20, switch everything into opposed rolls - d20 + skill vs. DC/opposed d20 + skill.

You can do damage this way, too; roll d20 + d8 (for a longsword) vs. d20 + Con mod. If the damage roll is higher than the Con roll, you take damage. (Leave it up to your group to decide how much damage you can take.)

You don't need classes; the GM can say, "You get 3 points to spend on any skills you used." So Torg the Valiant might put 1 point into Base Attack Bonus (or Swordsmanship, or whatever you want to call it), 1 point into Turn Undead, and 1 point into his Holy Courage skill. Lord Riff the Unknown might put 1 point into First Ring Magics, 1 point into Second Ring Magics, and one point to increase his familiar's Int.

i'm working on a conversion from the d20 D6 system to the D6 d20 system. :p

after that, i'll do a d20 Diplomacy conversion, and then maybe Risk diceless...

but seriously, once d20 Modern comes out, i'll took a good look at its vehicle rules (if it has any) and possibly do a d20 Crimson Skies...
