Thanks, Anna!

Hi Anna,

Since IR is a fanzine, I'm not exactly sure what the long term plan is regarding content. There will most likely be a rotating mix of people, places, and things. I will also toss in the cross-game material, such as dual stat blocks for DnD and GURPS. (gurps is a fave game of mine) I'm also thinking of the occasional "throw-back" article that will delve into out of print games, such as Star Frontiers.

Hey Christian! Thanks for the Iron Rations. Nice issue!

One querry/heads up. You say that Iron Rations is not released under the d20 system/trademark license (just the OGL), but in the first page you indicate requiring the PHB. I don't think technically you are allowed to do that, as that is indicating cross compatability without license, which is forbidden under terms of the OGL.

You noticed that, too? :) The silly thing is that when I laid out the interior cover of IR, I copied and pasted one from Scrollworks. I did so without thinking about the "Requires the PHB" blurb. Further down, the license mentions something to the effect of. "This printing of Scrollworks..."

Doh!

Thanks for the heads up!

I noticed the Scrollworks bit in there and figured thats what you did. It is easy to get used to just reusing the same old text and just modifying slightly..

A surprising number of game companies still do that. I've never understood that. They're risking $1000s of by screwing up a print run of books by not taking 10 seconds to make sure the OGL is updated correctly.

I got my copy--very nice. Good content and good art. I look forward to number two.

There's also a thread going in the Gen forum about Iron Rations. So hype it up!

Hey man....

Just got my 'rations the other day and I just have to say Big time kudos to you Christian for sticking with it :) Very nice work. I think you're the only guy I know who, when he shifts gears on a project due to lack of capital, says screw it and puts it out for free :D That is sincere dedication and I mean all this in the nicest of ways. I will miss S'works though.

Eric
