Free .pdf editor ?

Anyone know about a free .pdf editor?

I'm looking for something to edit .pdf character sheets and save them mainly.
Being able to import pictures would be a bonus, but just being able to write into the fields prepared for this AND to save the file with the changes (unlike Acrobat Reader) is what I would like.

Pretty much any Macintosh graphics program can do that these days, since Mac OS does printing to PDF automatically. But let me guess: You don't have a Mac.

Open Office allows for you to save in .pdf format.

I actually wanted to write, that I'm looking for a Windows program. Must have forgotten that somehow.

Hmm, I don`t think there is one. There are dozens of ways to create or view a PDF, but not to edit the PDF itself. I can only assume that there is some copyright/patent here (maybe by Adobe?) that forbids it. I mean, it must be possible to reengineer a PDF to create its "sourcecode", even if you can`t work on the PDF directly...

Unfortunately, I don`t know much about the backgrounds of PDFs - I know how to create them, though...

Hmm... I wonder what the point of saveable character sheets in .pdf format is then, if you need the - quite expensive - Adobe Acrobat to use them!

I don't have a cheap solution, but I think there's an Adobe Acrobat academic version that sells for about $100 US. Teachers and university students should be able to get it.

I know $100 is still a lot of money.

Yeah, no way I'm, paying $100 just to be able to edit a .pdf character sheet!

Ok, I know the program can do a lot more, but I don't need it for anything else.
