Free RPG Day: Master of the Fallen Fortress

Adventurer
I don't play Pathfinder. At the moment, I'm interested by the system, and I would play in a game given the opportunity. Today being Free RPG day, I decided to pick up the Pathfinder adventure, in case I was ever inclined to run a session or two. Overall, the adventure seems decent. It's a good dungeon crawl; nothing I haven't seen before, but nothing I mind playing either.

One thing really jumped out at me as being amiss, however. Throughout the module, whenever you find a monster, it tells you to refer to a page in the PF bestiary. I don't have a Pathfinder Bestiary! How can I run this adventure? I'm surprised that an adventure designed to pique the interest of gamers lacks one of the necessary pieces of information to run the thing...

You can use the Pathfinder SRD to look them up. Here is the Bestiary section.

All praise for the usual high production values from Paizo. It was available on their site for $5 and in the past the PDF of Free RPG Day adventures were made available for free but it seems to be unavai;lable at all currently.

Maybe they are planning to get it ready for free download on Monday?

Yes, they will be offering it for free PDF download on Monday morning, from the Storm the Lost Tower page:

(PaizoCon attendees will each get a free copy of the module at the show, and, starting Monday morning, everyone will be able to download a FREE PDF or buy a $5 print edition right here at paizo.com, so no need to despair if your store isn't on the Free RPG Day list!)

So we should be good! :)

Going back to the OP's concern: You have to remember that it's a free module and not a quick launch book which presents basic rules as well as a short adventure. The module is designed for PF and presented to showcase not just the system, but new character classes from the upcoming Advanced Player's Guide and also introduce the Pathfinder Society organized play which is a open campaign setting based on the world of Golarion. Since it's a module that means the average player probably won't pick it up, but might play it at the store if anyone is running it (whether as a demo or as an actual Pathfinder Society game). A GM who picks it up will run it for two reasons, either for their home campaign or for Pathfinder Society. That being said anyone picking up the module expecting it to contain everything they need to play will be disappointed to some extent, but as Ironwolf points out there are ways to find the information for free, but if you'd like something more concrete and official you may purchase both the PF core rules and the Bestiary in PDF format for only 9.99 each at Paizo's website.
