Okay here's my take on the movement issue. I'm probably going to regret it, we'll see. 
Freedom of movement basically says things that would impede your movement do not while under the effects of the spell. Armor does not impede your movement - it changes your base speed. Therefore, armor still slows you down.
We'll see if that stands up.
