Legend
As Brandon Hodge noted during his interview on Episode #009 of Chronicles: PFPC, due to space considerations, a very useful sidebar was cut from the final published version of the module, From Shore to Sea.

The Ten Interesting Ruins sidebar is a companion entry to the random encounters chart on the island and should inspire GMs to create ten new encounters and buildings to investigate on the island of Nal-Kashel.

We've packaged up the sidebar information and have made it available to community members here.

A special thanks to Brandon Hodge, Wolfgang Baur of Open Design and F. Wes Schneider of Paizo Publishing for permitting us to make this free webextra available to the Pathfinder community.

The sidebar itself had to be ruthlessly edited down for wordcount, even before it was cut for space.

Pre-editing, my contribution was;

7) This room is canted at a slight angle, and dangling from the ceiling, illuminated by sunlight shining in from a large crack in the facing wall, are a dozen orange-colored egg-like globes, held in place by strands of what appears to be dark green seaweed, that has, vine-like, crept up the walls, to bear these strange 'fruit' on the ceiling. If touched by a living hand, a sharp stabbing sensation is felt as a Stirge disgorges from within, getting a free flat-footed attack as it emerges. The spilling of blood causes Stirges to emerge from the other 'fruit' as well, and if the Stirges eat their fill, they fly up to the strange fruit, which part before them, and return to sleep within these strange 'nests.' Within these globes, the Stirges sleep deeply and do not appear to age, coming forth only to feed when disturbed, or at night, when the room grows cold and the shivering Stirges push their way out to feed.

If a Stirge is slain, the globe hatches a new one within itself 24 hours later, if not also destroyed.
