Pathfinder 1E From the sky, they came...

I wanted some feedback on an idea I have.

I'm converting an old party of 16-18 lvl characters from 3.5 to Pathfinder and I'm planning on something special for this new adventure.

I'm planning on a meteorite to fall, bringing terrible "alien" creatures inside. I was thinking on using some aberrations but I would love to hear any other suggestions to throw at the party...

I did something like this except with lower level characters. I used Philip's Reed's Possessors. They are like Mind Flayers in some ways but creepier and less obvious. I wanted something new and different that the players would not be familiar with and that's exactly what I got.

Definetely a little more action oriented than horror (Action 0 - 10 Horror, I would say a 3). We haven't played with this party in years and I'm sure my players would love to kick ass and take names now that they actually know how to use all the feats to their advantage. It would happen before that they would forget they had some skill or feat that would have been a game changer. Not so much anymore. ;D

If I remember correctly we ended that campaign with a fight against a Balor and stopped a powerful vampire demigod from awakening.

These are some of the creatures I would like to use (bolded are my favorites): Akata, Bebilith, Derghodaemon, Ghorazagh, Neothelid, astradaemon, Olethrodaemon.

I could set loose a big pack of Akatas as the first wave of "guests" brought my the meteorite and work from there releasing the stronger creatures that were buried deeper.

What are all the extraplanar critters (Bebilith, the Daemons) doing riding around on a meteor in the first place? Isn't the sky part of the Material Plane?

Maybe they had something to do with the meteor's fall.

Maybe they aimed it.

you could have them see the impacts from far away and rush to help the town or whtaever that the meteorites hit. Perhaps the aliens are first masquerading as people to escape the crash site. They look like people, but have no idea about language or body language, so they appear to be a bit "off". Perhaps they'll fight while looking like people, but then once they've lost some health, they transform and become abberations.

I had two options.

There was an incident back in the previous campaign. They "accidentally" sent a "nuclear bomb" to another plane and when it exploded it opened up a rift between the realities... and plenty of mutated ex-celestial creatures came rushing through.

I was thinking that perhaps someone on the other less liked planes got wind of it and tried their own gate by mundane means. It simply didn't actually open where they wanted (void of space!) and they hitched a ride on an asteroid, which conveniently had a bunch of other creatures fleeing their ex-planet.

The other option was more along the lines of the Akata description. A previously world enslaved by demons and other extraplanar creatures got destroyed and this chunk just kept floating aimlessly until they came closer to this planet and the Big Ones decided it was time for a pit stop.

I'm also open to more suggestions.
