Its wielder is protected from fire; the sword absorbs the first 10 points of fire damage each round that the wielder would otherwise take.

A frost brand extinguishes all nonmagical fires in its area. As a standard action, it can also dispel lasting fire spells, but not instantaneous effects, though you must succeed on a dispel check (1d20 +14) against each spell to dispel it. The DC to dispel such spells is 11 + the caster level of the fire spell.

What is a frostbrand's "area"? Is it contact with the blade (which I'd interpret to also mean its wielder), or is it a radius, or something else?

In the first paragraph it says it sheds light as a torch. What is the (light) area of a torch?

That would be 20ft of bright illumination and 40ft of shadowy illumination.

If the character has low-light vision, it's double that. Personally, I'd go with 20ft, but 20, 40, and 80 are all technically possible.

It shouldn't. That's why I said I would go with 20ft.
